Tiny Daffodil Report

Tiny Daffodil was built to be a mini-version of the original 12 lb Daffodil.  It was surprisingly effective, winning the antweight championship at the SECR Farm Fight in Florida, January 2002.
Tiny Daffy's frame and drive motors.  Note the bearings attached to some chunks of circuit board material.  The drum rolls on those bearings.

The MX-50 servos are really nifty.  Weight was a premium issue in this bot because the drum was so heavy and so was the weapon motor, so the lightness of the servos helped a lot.  You can get them at Acroname.

The wheels.  Because of TD's design, it needs big wheels (4" diameter), and doesn't have any weight to spare.  CDs could have worked, but I saw some CD wheels get broken at IHXRC, so I decided to use circuit board material.  A rubber o-ring was then glued on the outside to provide some traction.

The nifty hubs can be bought at ServoCity.

The drum.  It was made from a chunk of 1/16 thick aluminum pipe.  The endcaps were made from delrin with a thin layer of teflon glued to the inside.
