Dandelion Version 2 Build Report

The problem with Dandelion Version 1 was that the drive motors were underpowered.  Unfortunately, despite lots of thinking, I couldn't come up with a way to fix that problem with the geometry of the robot, so it became a complete rebuild.

I also wanted to experiment with building a complete gear reduction myself, so I moved up to the next-bigger motor in the Promax line (the 0506) and decided to build a custom 13:1 three-stage gear reduction.

Besides that, the bot isn't that different from the first Dandelion version.  Brought the front wheels inside and changed from the disk to a drumette (similar to other bots of the time).

Here's the frame, similar to other frames I've built.  This frame is 10 inches square.
Trying to get the gear reduction to work out.  Building a gearbox is hard.  They were binding up some so I used some Lapping Paste (an abrasive) to grind the gears down a bit and loosen it up.
Here's what that gearbox looks like assembled.
This gives an idea of the whole drive setup.
